We had a beautiful Halloween day!! Our weather couldn't have been better, and we enjoyed a 2020-style Halloween class party. The class played Bingo, complete with pumpkin spice scented pumpkin markers! We watched an Arthur Halloween special about "scaring" away hiccups. We enjoyed treats provided by our fantastic parents. I thought I would share a few pictures from our memorable day. Enjoy!
Can you create a long green snake from 32 cups? Use only three base "legs" and see how long your snake can grow. The cups cannot touch the ground!
Students worked in teams to create this project. They learned some snake facts, and enjoyed experimenting with cup engineering. Four snakes were created!
Mr. Auman began by having students create a dot on their gray piece of paper. They then created webs by drawing a series of lines with crayons. Spiders were created from paper. Students folded the legs of their spiders to create a three-dimensional effect. We think our project turned out rather spook-tacular!
Counting by 10's is helpful. We practiced counting by 10's as we explored estimation and rounding concepts. Hooray for place value -- and Base Ten blocks. :)
In these pictures, students are drawing their crayon leaves. After the drawings have been created, we will paint them with water color paints. Our Haiku poems will be displayed with our art. We are excited to share these with parents when you visit for conferences!
Students discovered that pumpkins can roll farther when they are given a push, and the surface is on an incline. One group also discovered, when their stem fell off, that this changed how the pumpkin rolled. We also learned that dropping the pumpkin can cause it to break. A broken pumpkin does not roll well!
